"Lordy, we sure is rich now." -Prissy upon seeing the house-

The Butler House is the finest and grandest house in Atlanta, bigger even then that of the mayor's. It was built for Rhett Butler and his new bride Scarlett O'Hara.

Style[]

The Butler House is extremely ostentatious and vulgar. So many expensive things have been thrown together that it lacks any cohesensy or style. It has stained-glass windows, modern sliding doors, large paintings and mirrors and every wooden piece of furniture has been ornately decorated. The curtains are long and made of velvet and there are large, unpersonal gardens.

Inhabitants[]

Servants[]

Animals[]

  • Bonnie's Shetland pony
  • Rhett Butler's horse
  • Wade's Saint Bernhard dog
  • Bonnie's kitten
  • Scarlett's birds

Trivia[]

  • The house was meant to resemble Twelve Oaks, the Wilkes' Estate but instead reminds its visitors of Belle Watling's brothel.
  • The house's rich but vulgar exterior, compared to Twelve Oaks' timeless style is meant to represent their mistresses' personalities. Scarlett's southern charm is shallow and superficial. She is materialistic and selfish, which her house shows off. Melanie, like her house, is plain and simple but her charm lies in her good personality.
