Beatrice Tarleton is the matriarch of the Tarleton-clan. She is a good friend of Gerald O'Hara and John Wilkes. She is the mistress of the plantation Fairhill, the wife of James Tarleton and the mother of their eight children.
Personality[]
Beatrice is an impressive woman with a fierce knowledge on horses. She also manages eight children, a husband and a plantation with an iron fist in a velvet glove. She has strong opinions and will not easily change her mind.
After the death of all her sons, Beatrice loses her zest for life and spirit.
Appearance[]
Like all Tarletons, she has red hair.
Biography[]
Early in the war, she loses her eldest son Boyd, who was due to inherit Fairhill. Later, at the Battle of Gettysburg, Beatrice loses her other three sons, which destroys her emotionally.
Fairhill is burnt by the Yankees, but James and she rebuild it with the help of their daughters, picking cotton as their slaves are now free and gone.
